Plot Plot Definition Plot is a literary term used to describe the events that make up a story or the main part of a story. These events relate to each other in a pattern or a sequence. The structure of a novel depends on the organization of events in the plot of the story. Plot is known as the foundation of a novel or story which the characters and settings are built around. It is meant to organize information and events in a logical manner. When writing the plot of a piece of literature, the author has to be careful that it does not dominate the other parts of the story. There are five main elements in a plot; The first is the exposition or the introduction : This is known as the beginning of the story where characters and setting are established. Symbols in Literature

A symbol is a mark, sign, or word that indicates, signifies, or is understood as representing an idea, object, or relationship. Symbols allow people to go beyond what is known or seen by creating linkages between otherwise very different concepts and experiences. Symbolism Symbolism is the practice or art of using an object or a word to represent an abstract idea. An action, person, place, word, or object can all have a symbolic meaning. When an author wants to suggest a certain mood or emotion, he can also use symbolism to hint at it, rather than just blatantly saying it. Symbolism in Literature  Symbolism is often used by writers to enhance their writing. Symbolism can give a literary work more richness and color and can make the meaning of the work deeper. Point of view.

Point of View. Point of view is the angle of considering things, which shows us the opinion, or feelings of the individuals involved in a situation. In literature, point of view is the mode of narration that an author employs to let the readers “hear” and “see” what takes place in a story, poem, essay etc. Point of view is a reflection of the opinion an individual from real life or fiction can have. Examples of point of view belong to one of these three major kinds: 1. First person point of view involves the use of either of the two pronouns “I” and “we”. Example: “ I felt like I was getting drowned with shame and disgrace.” 2. Second person point of view employs the pronoun “you”. “Sometimes you cannot clearly distinguish between anger and frustration.” 3. Third person point of view uses pronouns like “he”, “she”, “it”, “they” or a name. Also known as omniscient point of view.The word omniscient comes from the Latin word omniscientia , which means “all-knowing.” ...

THEMES AND LESSONS FROM THE SHORT STORY WRITTEN BY JOMO KENYATTA BY THE TITLE ‘GENTLEMEN OF THE JUNGLE’ The themes in the story include;   COLONIANISM ; Jomo Kenyatta; the author of the story, was a former president of Kenya .He illustrated how the citizens of Kenya [The man] were colonized by their colonial masters [The animals] in the story. RACISM ; Racism is the belief that due to the difference in race, one should be superior to the other, thus discrimination is directed to the inferior race. This happened in the case of the man being denied his seat in the commission with the belief that he wasn’t educated enough to undertake the position. “On seeing the personnel, the man protested and asked if it was not necessary to include in this Commission a member from his side. But he was told that it was impossible, since no one from his side was well enough educated to understand the intricacy of jungle law”, as stated in the story on page 2. BRIBERY AND CORRUPTION...
